Selling Your Home: Summer Is Hot!

Summertime is the busiest season for home buying and selling, filled with lots of market activity. If you’re in the market to sell your home, here are some things you’ll want to know:

summer home sales

Red-Hot Market: Across the nation, volume of sales in June is usually 29% above average. This can typically be accounted to people wanting to move during summer vacation from school. So, now is the time! Not only is our local market demand high, but we also have a few weeks yet before school resumes!

Low Rates: Take advantage of the low 30-year-fixed interest rates! Now is the time!

Mortgage Changes: Fannie Me and Freddie Mac are loosening some of their bank lending rules. In addition to that, Wells Fargo & Co., America’s largest home lender, reduced its minimum credit score from 660 to 620 for borrowers. This trend was to match the decisions of smaller banks.

Outdoor Living: From upper level balconies to waterfront properties, walk-out basements and pools, spacious decks and patios, to a backyard staged to show its use…summertime outdoor living staging helps sell the home! Because the weather is beautiful, potential homebuyers will appreciate outdoor living spaces that can be used for entertaining and relaxation. So, pay attention to those staging details too.

Landscapers’ Dream: The hot days of summer traditionally make our lawns and flowers buckle under pressure, but this year’s weather has really fostered a great growing season for flowers, shrubs, trees and container plants. Stage your home with colorful containers and flowers to accent the beauty of your outdoor living areas.

Stay Cool: Be sure to set your thermostat to keep your home comfortable and cool during showings. The potential buyers will appreciate it…being able to casually look around your home comfortably despite the temperature outside the home.
