Have you ever seen this house? It’s The Kincaid House, an Italianate-style historic farmhouse that sits at the corner of 106th Street and Kincaid Drive. The home was built in 1861 by the Peter Flanagan family using clay bricks made on-site. It later was owned by Loma E. Kincaid, the founder of L.E. Kincaid and Sons Meat Market.
After facing demolition this summer, thanks to the efforts of Indiana Landmarks and the Noblesville Preservation Alliance, this Civil War Era home will not be destroyed. Navient, the loan management company located on USA Parkway, has donated two acres of its land for The Kincaid House to be lifted and moved less than one half-mile down the road to its permanent location.
The move will take place October 4th and will cost roughly $115,000. The Nickel Plate Arts and the Noblesville Preservation Alliance, with help from Hamilton County Tourism, created an Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign to help raise monies to move the house.
The foundation has been dug out and beams are in place through the basement windows and the walls in order to help with the lifting of the home onto a flatbed truck for the move.
If you’re looking for a tax deductible donation to help move and renovate this historic home, want to learn more about its history, or share ideas on what to do with it next, click here. The fundraising goal is $30,000 by the end of this month.
This is a home move that goes beyond the norm!

In celebration of the last farmer’s market of the year, take part in the Farmer’s Market Fall Celebration.
From 8 a.m. to noon this Saturday, September 27th, the Nickel Plate District will be busy with the usual faces and traditions of the farmer’s market with vendors, farmers and locals…but will also include more! Come out to enjoy live music, games and activities, as well as bobbing for apples and chucking pumpkins to send a fond farewell to one of our favorite Fishers traditions!
When you hear “the apple store,” you probably first thought of the one with blue-shirted-techies and tons of cool computers and phones.
But, the one I am referencing is The Apple Store at Conner Prairie, which is operated by Conner Prairie Alliance, a women’s volunteer fundraising group, dating back to 1982. Proceeds from The Apple Store and other fundraising events support the mission and programs of Conner Prairie.
The Apple Store is the place to go for all that is apples. Here, you can buy apples from local orchards, jams and jellies, carmel-dipped apples, apple cider, apple cider slushes, apple and pumpkin donuts, donut holes, and apple fritters from another Fishers business, Jack’s Donuts, popcorn, Zionsville’s B. Happy Peanut Butter, apple pie, Amish goods, specialty gift items, and even gourmet doggie treats for your four-legged family members.
Last year, The Apple Store sold more than 14,000 carmel-dipped apples!
The store is open now through October 31st, Tuesdays through Sundays from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Stop by to pick up the season’s best fruit and support our very own Conner Prairie.
