Curb Appeal Quickies.

Sometimes the quick and easy curb appeal projects are best. If you’re looking for some budget-friendly projects that you can fit in between the sports schedules, work and time on the boat, here are some ideas.

house numbersAdd new house numbers. Local hardware stores and online stores offer a great variety of modern fonts and cool number designs to give your house numbers a trendy look. Accent a front pillar, wooden fence, overhang or mailbox post with new numbers.

Make the porch a focal point. Local garden stores, the farmers markets and roadside gardeners have a beautiful array of colorful plants. If you have a covered front porch or landing, create an instant pop of color with various container plants and a spot to relax with outdoor furniture for a conversation area.

Emphasize the front door. Add an accent color or a colorful wreath to your front door to personalize your entryway. Choose a color that compliments your brick or siding. Go to Pinterest for inspiration! Search “front door” and you’ll see what I mean.

Plant green and floral life. Landscaping gives such boost to your home by using plant material to surround walkways or line the exterior features your home. Clump flowers in groupings and keep the higher plants to the back and layer in with smaller plants in the front. Perennials are a cost-effective plant to use because they come back each year.

Add some light. Landscape lighting provides such a beautiful effect to your home, giving highlight to pathways, trees and flags during evening hours. Solar lights are an affordable solution for this as well.

Freshen up the paint. Stand back for a street view of your home and take a look at your shutters, exterior trim and front door. If your exterior finishes need some TLC, repaint them and give your home an instant makeover.

Treat your lawn. Apply a fertilizer to nourish your yard or considering hiring an expert to diagnose any problems with grubs and weeds. If the rain starts to fade, be sure to water your lawn to keep it green and lush.

Repair your driveway. Winter’s constant freezing and thawing took a toll on driveways and sidewalks. Take time to patch and seal any holes or cracks.

Wash the exterior. Clean out gutters and pick up fallen debris from around the home. Power wash your siding, wood decks and concrete sidewalks to freshen up your home.

Enjoy this beautiful weather and take some time to give your home curb appeal with these easy, inexpensive tips!

This Month in Real Estate. Home Sales Show Growth.

Interest rates remain low, fueling the home buying market. It’s going to continue to be a strong home buying and selling season into the summer.

The number of homes on the market continued to increase throughout first quarter 2015 though the pace of sales grew faster. It was a solid start for the housing market, mirroring 2013 numbers…only with fewer distressed property sales.

imagesInterest rates for 30-year fixed loans remain below 4% and continue to slowly decline. Freddie Mac reports: 30-year fixed rate, 3.66%, 15-year fixed rate, 2.92%; and a 5/1-year ARM, 2.84%.

The seasonally adjusted annualized rate of home sales increased 6.1% in March. This was 10.4% higher than the same time last year, which is the largest year-over-year increase since August of 2013. The housing market continues to see strong numbers, and is projected to maintain those all summer, due to the incredibly low interest rates.

If you’re looking to sell your home or a buy a new home, contact me. As a Keller Williams Realtor with years of expertise, I am here to help you sell your home…or find a new home just perfect for your needs. I look forward to working with you.
