Recycle Day Saturday at Billericay!

Are you cleaning out your garage, storage areas and closets? If not, now is a great time to do so!

Join the City of Fishers and community partners this Saturday, October 31st in the Fall Recycling Day. The event takes place at Billericay Park (northeast corner of 126th Street and Promise Road) from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. It’s a free event for you to get rid of things you’re ready to part with such as old paint, electronic devices, appliances, hazardous wastes such as flammable liquids, batteries, paint, old bills to shred and more.

Technology Recyclers 
Accepting appliances such as: cell phones, computers, printers, batteries, old electronic equipment, lawn mowers, power tools, workout equipment and basically anything that can be plugged into the wall to operate.

NuGenesis, Inc.
Accepting hazardous waste items such as: paint (all types), flammable liquids, household batteries, gas grill-sized propane tanks, fire extinguishers, motor oil, liquid acids and bases, medical sharps and more. Note: up to 100 pounds or its liquid equivalent is free, however, a charge of one dollar per additional pound or its equivalent will be applied thereafter.

Shares, Inc.
On site to accept paper-related items that you would like to be shredded such as: newspapers, confidential paperwork, bills, office files, mail, printer and corrugated papers and more.

All who attend to drop off items will receive a free pack of bulbs to plant! Keep our city beautiful…take pride in your home and community.

Boo-n-Brew at the NPD!

Check out this fun Halloween event (for grown-ups) happening at the Nickel Plate District Amphitheater!

imagesIn the spirit of all that is spooky, come out to the NPD on Friday, October 30th for an adult-only Halloween celebration! The Rocky Horror Picture Show will be on the big screen at 7 p.m. After the show, The Graveyard Stompers will kick off a live concert at 9 p.m.

Sun King Brewery will be on location with a beer garden and several food trucks will be at the NPD!

Boo Bash at the NPD!

If your kiddos are ready to get their spook on a bit early, come by the Nickel Plate District Amphitheater this Friday, October 23rd for the Boo Bash event!

The Boo Bash is for families and kids of all ages and will include safe trick-or-treating, live music, vendors, games and fun activities.

Schedule of Events:

  • 6:30: Halloween Village opens
  • 7:00: Costume Contest with prizes
  • 8:30: Boo Bash concludes
Prizes will be awarded for best costumes so be sure to register at the Parks and Recreation tent to be judged for the competition. Age groups are: newborn to age two, three to five, six to ten, 11 and 12 and family. Four winners will be announced per age group with categories of prettiest, scariest, most creative and best movie/character. Only the first 50 people per age group can be in the contest so arrive early to register!
Prizes:

  • Newborn to 2-year-olds: free entry into a Fishers Parks & Recreation program
  • 3 to 5: Monkey Joe’s pass
  • 6 to 10: One-hour pass to Sky Zone
  • 11 to 12: Conner Prairie and balloon ride tickets
  • Family category: Free bowling at Pin Heads

Various vendor booths will be at the event and will offer activities for kids ages three and up. Pat’s Philly Pretzels will be providing free pretzels and hot chocolate while supplies last.

Free on-site parking is available around the Nickel Plate District. Construction note: 116th Street will be closed for railroad crossing repair and crosswalk improvements so plan ahead for that major detour per the below links.

Fishers Road Closures & Detours: Take Note

As part of the growth of our city comes some headache and hassle with constructions on our roadways.

imagesHere are some updates to road closures that you’ll want to note:

ATLANTIC ROAD CLOSURE
Beginning this week, Atlantic Road will be closed between 136th Street to just north of 126th Street for paving. Through traffic will not be permitted and the project will take place for a few weeks.

CYNTHEANNE ROAD
This week there will be lane restrictions on Cyntheanne Road south of 104th Street for roadwork.

LANTERN AND COMMERCIAL INTERSECTION
Lantern Road will remain closed the week of October 12 from Commercial Drive to North Street.

NORTH STREET & MUNICIPAL DRIVE
Period lane restrictions will be in place on North Street and Municipal Drive for construction over next few weeks.

104TH STREET
Shoulder work is scheduled for the week of October 12 along 104th Street west of Cyntheanne Road. During construction lane restrictions will be in place.

106TH STREET & ELLER ROAD
Construction on the 106th Street and Eller Road turn lane will continue this week. During construction, periodic lane restrictions will be implemented between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Lane restrictions will continue through mid-October.

116TH STREET
Lane restrictions on westbound 116th Street from Holland to Cameron for fence replacement. Additional closures will start take place October 21st through the 25th at the railroad track area downtown Fishers in the Nickel Plate District due to railroad crossing repair and crosswalk improvements. Seek alternate routes to avoid this area.
