The 15th annual Fishers Police Department Teen Academy is now open for applicants.
The Teen Academy will take place June 20 – 24 in conjunction with the Fishers YMCA at Riverside Intermediate. This one-week class provides law enforcement type training for teens (ages 13+).
The academy is from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The day begins with physical exercise, then classroom training and hands-on training to supplement the daily lesson. The wrap-up for the day involves a social activity between officers and students.
Various topics will be covered to help teens understand police department and its role within the community. Examples of the lessons include: traffic stops, K-9 units, dive team, internet safety, crime scene investigators and more.
If you have a teen interested in this great summer opportunity, only 40 spots are available.
- Must be at least 13 years of age
- Must be enrolled in junior high or high school (HSE School Corp)
- Applicant will have a screening process
- No walk-ins permitted
