Front porch focal point. If you have a covered front porch or landing, create an instant pop of color with various container plants and a spot to relax with outdoor furniture for a conversation area. Once Spring is in full bloom, check out local nurseries and farmers markets for colorful container plants.
Update house numbers. Local hardware and online stores offer a great variety of trendy, modern fonts with number designs. Accent a front pillar, wooden fence, overhang or mailbox post with new numbers.
Make a plant plan. Landscaping gives such boost to your home by using plant material to surround walkways or line the exterior features your home. Come up with a design plan for your green spaces. Clump flowers in groupings and keep the higher plants to the back and layer in with smaller plants in the front. Perennials are a cost-effective plant to use because they come back each year. Remove any dead growth left over from last Fall to give plants a boost this Spring.
Light up your exterior. Landscape lighting provides such a beautiful effect to your home, giving highlight to pathways, trees and flags during evening hours. Solar lights are an affordable solution for this as well.
Consider new paint. Stand back for a street view of your home and take a look at your shutters, exterior trim and front door. If your exterior finishes need some TLC, repaint them and give your home an instant makeover.
Treat your lawn. Apply a fertilizer to nourish your yard or hire an expert to diagnose any problems with grubs and weeds. Have your lawn mowers serviced and ready for mowing season.
Repair your driveway. Winter wasn’t terribly cold, however, freezing and thawing can take a toll on driveways and sidewalks. Patch and seal any holes or cracks.
Wash the exterior. Clean out gutters and pick up fallen debris from around the home. Power wash your siding, wood decks and concrete sidewalks to freshen up your home and give instant curb appeal.
